DRUG KINGPIN NABBED IN SLEEPY STEYNSBURG

STEYNSBURG: Members of the South African Police Service are hailed for their swift response and nabbing a drug dealer.

The drug dealer was stopped in his tracks after SAPS members received positive information of his criminal activities.

Per a communique from the SAPS office dispatched to the media by Captain Ursula Roelofse, this happened on September 16 when the police received information of a suspect that is selling drugs at New Brighton area in Steynsburg.

“The members then proceeded to the identified house and searched the suspect and found two full mandrax tablets in his pockets where after he also pointed out where 20 packets of crystal meth were hidden in the house,” said Roelofse.

“During the preliminary investigation the suspect also showed the SAPS where 79 small plastics of tik was hidden in the garden on the same premises.”

The police captain added that the 32 year old suspect was arrested for the possession and dealing in drugs.

“He appeared before the Steynsburg Magistrates Court and the case was remanded and he received bail.” stated Roelofse in a statement.

Meanwhile, the effort by the men and women in blue has received the backing of Joe Gqabi District Commissioner Major General Lindelwa Vellem while also thanking the community of Steynsburg, saying they “do not tolerate the drug dealers in their community and for strengthening the SAPS hand in the fight against crime.”
